Labels

Amanita (France - electronic / free / noise / ambient / jazz / books / magazines)
just co-released the new Zu album with Red Note; many other releases including Badgewearer, Trottel, Cafe Teatro; also have an impressive mail-order catalogue; we are distributing some of their references in our own sail order section.

Benbecula (Edinburgh - electronic music)
recently included our own favourite Nimrod 33 and Neck Doppler on their compilations.

Diskono (Scotland - electronica, experimental weird ass shit)
do they really need an introduction? just get lost in their website and you'll see...

Fence (Fife, Scotland)

Fencing Flatworm Records (Leeds - electronica, diy weirdness)
an impressive collection of diy releases, including the OtO tape project; should have been putting out a split release between Thurston Moore and our own Edinburgh-based favourites Giant Tank, had Giant Tank not forgotten to press "record" before playing that memorable gig... oh well, it ended up being Thurston Moore alone...

House of Stairs (London) have just released a compilation (Useless in Bed) featuring Guapo, Cheval de Frise, Ursa and many more...

KFM Records (Edinburgh): home to the fantastic David Jack, Penpushers, I am Scientist, the Magnificents, etc.

Monotreme (London)

Mouthmoth (Scotland; electronica and more weirdness)
home of Frog Pocket and more; also released some stuff by Neck Doppler.

Over-records (London)
small label releasing Inconnu material and also a Black Sun album soon...

Pandemonium Records (Marseille, France - experimental)
parallel music for perpendicular feelings... have released albums by Guapo, Milgram, Cerberus Shoal, Hint, Spaceheads, and many others well worth checking out.

Planet-Mu run by Mike Paradinas (aka Mu-Ziq), this label seems to have collected the best electronic artists over the past few years: Venetian Snares, Frog Pocket, Datach'i, Jega, Chevron, Shitmat, etc. Only oversight I can think of: Mick Harris: if it wasn't for him, they're definitely the best label all around, so you're losing out if you can't see him as well...

Psychiatric Records (Glasgow, Scotland - experimental)
Phono, Scatter, Colditz, Rutabaga,Age of Wire and Strings; also responsible for the Cranial Health nights at Stereo.

Public Eyesore (USA)
experimental, minimalist free jazz, electroacoustic and outsider recordings. We are coreleasing the Monster Party and Jad Fair & Strobe Talbot albums with them.

Red F Records (Lyon, France - post rock, etc)
Milgram's new label; also home to the Redneck Manifesto and Connect Four Orchestra.

Rock Action Records (Scotland) home to the James Orr Complex, Kling Klang, Random Number and more fine music...

Red Note (the Netherlands)
the other in-house label run by De Konkurrent, together with "In the Fish Tank"; releases by Roof, Zu and a few others...

Too Many Fireworks / 2mf (Glasgow)
scottish alternative label; anything from acoustic post-folk, to insane glam electronica; home to Troika and the Flying Matchstick Men

Zerobros (Belgium - all things Fugazi, related, and followers)

Mail-order / shops / distribution

Amanita (France - electronic / free / noise / ambient / jazz / books / magazines)
just co-released the new Zu album with Red Note; many other releases including Badgewearer, Trottel, Cafe Teatro; also have an impressive mail-order catalogue; we are distributing some of their references in our own sail order section.

De Konkurrent (the Netherlands - all the good stuff you can possibly imagine...)
Currently distribute labels such as Chemikal Underground, Dischord, Euro Ralph (!!!), Kitty-Yo, Kranky, Monitor, Skingraft, Staalplaat, Touch & Go, VHF Records, and many more...

Jockrock (Scotland)
for all your need in terms of Scottish bands and/or labels; really varied (and iuneven) stuff, the only criteria being that it's got to come from Scotland. That obviously includes our releases.

Kfuel (Rennes, France - hardcore, noise, emocore, and more)
they carry quite a few hard to find (and still cheap) good records, and that also includes ours...

La Belle Dame Sans Merci (Angers ou presque, France - all the best in experimental music)
new mail-order catalogue carrying the very best in experimental music, both guitar and electronic based (FBWL, Amanita, mrw44 of course, and many more...)

Rough Trade (London)
2 shops in London and a catalogue online; our releases are available from the Notting Hill shop; please make sure you get your free copy of the first No ReWinf compilation if you buy the second one (and vice-versa).

Rhythm Thief (Leeds)
some cool harcore / noise references, plus more; site hasn't been updated in a while but email them for more details; oh and they also carry our releases.

Sound 323 (London)
a really cool shop in London (Highgate); also an interesting mail-order section.

Small Fish (London)
a really cool shop on Old Street in London, also with a database online (although not updated recently in the case of our own releases... Check with them if you need to, but the first 2 No ReWind comps should be available together for a total of £5.99)

Walked In Line (France - hardcore, noise and more)

Zerobros (Belgium - all things Fugazi, related, and followers)
our first 2 compilations are available there

the most interesting show on the BBC, live on Radio 3 very Sunday, 11pm-midnight, and available online for a week after each show.

Resonance (London - experimental music)
the best radio you could ever imagine, run by the London Musician Collective. Check out their schedule for tons of interesting programs.

Live music: promoters / listings / venues / guides, etc

Cabaret Voltaire (Edinburgh - venue) - the worst venue you could ever imagine (the worst I've ever used for sure), avoid them if you can!!! if you're planning a small scale Edinburgh gig, I would suggest the Subway, Caledonian Backpackers or Bannerman's, cheaper to hire and at least you know you won't be let down at the last minute because they think the turn-out is not gonna be sufficient, and the soundman wll always make a point of being there on time.

Consume (Glasgow - label, promoter - electronicaca, experimental weird ass shit, stolen rock acts)
home of Neck Doppler, Serious Naan, Opaque... Also responsible for the legendary Consume nights in Glasgow. I don't think they are putting any more gigis on at the moment.

Deepburnt (Glasgow - electronica)
the most active promoter currently putting on electronic or other adventurous music in Glasgow.

Glasshouse Transmission (Glasgow - electronica) bringing some amazing touring acts to Scotland; have now started to put gigs on in Edinburgh too (Kid 606, Rephlex night, Soulo, Schneider TM)

Geekrock

Kfuel (Rennes, France - webzine, radio show, promoter, booker - hardcore, noise, emocore, and more)
booking tours in France for some of the most interesting bands (Lvmen, Guapo, Planquez, and many more); and also putting on gigs regularly in Rennes.

Stereo (Glasgow - venue)

Studio 24 (Edinburgh - venue) 600-700 capacity, relatively cheap to hire for that size and run by lovely people, that's where we host our bigger gigs, highly recommended!
